Dwarf Rhododendron St Merryn is a compact spreading dwarf shrub with attractive dark glossy green leaves. The variety has widely funnel-shaped flowers in a deep violet-blue colour. St Merryn develops into small clusters of colour during the spring time, making it a lovely addition to gardens lacking in colour during this time of the year. The plant likes partial shade and to be situated in soil that is well drained. The gorgeous deep purple flowers can stretch to 2cm in width and the whole plant can reach a height of 60cm and a width of 90cm. There are many uses for Dwarf Rhododedndron St Merryn. Traditional planters look wonderful with the variety planted in the middle as a centerpiece, surrounded by white or yellow flowering plants. Alternatively this species can work well inside a wall trough attached to the side of the house where it gets a balance of shade and sunlight as the sun moves around the garden throughout each day.
